Shamrock Placemat/Picture
Need:
White Card Stock
Shamrock cookie cutters, varying sizes are great
Green crayons or markers
Green tissue paper
St. Patrick's Day stickers

Give each child a sheet of card stock. Let them use the green
crayons or markers to trace around the cookie cutters to make the
shamrocks. Younger ones will need help with this to hold the cookie
cutter still. Next let them color them in if they will use it for a
placemat. They can also add some of the stickers to it.

If they are making a wall hanging, let them spread some glue inside
the clover design. Next, they tear off pieces of the tissue paper,
wad it up and then stick it onto the glue inside the design until
the entire clover is filled in. A great 3D design to hang on the
wall.

Hunt for Leprechauns Gold

Preschoolers always love to go on Treasure Hunts!  Take some time
to cut out gold circles for coins and green rectangles for money.
Then hide all through the classroom.
Give each child their own pretend Pot Of Gold to fill as they go
through the room searching for their treasure.

Once all the treasure has been found talk about the legend of the
Leprechaun.  In simplest terms tell them he is a magical character
that is very hard to spy and even harder to catch.  AND if someone
is lucky enough to catch one, he has to show you where he has
hidden his pot of gold.  Create a lively discussion asking how each
child might try to spot a leprechaun and catch him.

oreo_turkeyIngredients:

  • Oreo cookie
  • Candy Corn
  • Hershey Kiss
  • OPTIONAL:
    • Green icing(or white with green food coloring)
    • Red icing or small piece of red licorice

Directions:

  1. Divide the Oreo into two pieces. (An adult can do this easily without breaking the cookies by using a sharp knife.)
  2. Place four or five pieces of candy corn around the top of the Oreo cookie that has the icing.
  3. Place the flat part of the Kiss in the icing at the bottom of the Oreo.
  4. OPTIONAL: Add green icing to the other half of the Oreo so the Turkey will 'stand up'.
  5. OPTIONAL: Add a touch of red icing or a small string of red licorice to make the waddle.
  6. OPTIONAL: Eyes can be added using small pieces of icing or by 'stealing' a little bit of frosting with a toothpick.
