Bucha is the first feature film to bring Ukraine’s tragic events to the big screen, premiering in Ukraine on November 7. The film was awarded 2nd place by viewers at the Polish International Film Festival in Warsaw and is a gripping, must-see portrayal of recent history in Bucha, rendered with unflinching detail. Inspired by the true story of Konstantin Gudauskas—a Kazakh citizen granted asylum in Ukraine who lived in Bucha—the film follows his courageous efforts during the Russian invasion. His Kazakh passport allowed him to cross into Russian-occupied areas, where he was able to evacuate Ukrainian civilians to safety, saving lives and bearing witness to the brutal realities of war and occupation.
The film will be presented with English subtitles.
The screening will include Q&A with the screenwriter Oleksandr Shchur.
