Join us for an IN-PERSON concert, “European Art Songs: A Musical Journey from Ukraine to Germany”, by Duo Abakumova-Teufel on Saturday, 10/21, at 2PM!

Award winning Soprano, Olha Abakumova and concert pianist, Clemens Teufel will showcase a colorful program including famous classical songs by Robert Schumann, Richard Strauss, and George Gershwin as well as a selection of Ukrainian songs.

The Duo met last December at a fundraiser concert in Cambridge, MA for a children’s hospital in Ukraine where they performed Ukrainian songs together. They have started performing as a duo around New England just recently and have shows planned in Boston, MA, Newport, RI and Cambridge, MA among others!

About Olha: Soprano, Olha Abakumova was born and raised in Chernihiv, Ukraine. Olha is a first prize winner of several international competitions in Europe. She has performed as a soloist at the Mariinsky Theater in St. Petersburg, with the Lviv National Opera, and the Khmelnytskyi Philharmonic Orchestra among others.

In 2022 Olha was awarded with a gold medal by the Parliament of Ukraine for her distinguished cultural contributions to the people of Ukraine (2022). She emigrated to the US in June 2022 with her eight-year-old daughter and is living in Sudbury, Mass.

About Clemens: German concert pianist, Clemens Teufel has performed around the globe including venues such as New York’s Lincoln Center as well as the Goodnow Library in a live stream concert during the pandemic!

Clemens won first prizes in German national competitions in both solo and chamber music divisions and has given masterclasses in Europe and Asia including the Beijing Conservatory in China. Clemens lives with his wife and two children in Quincy, MA
