Hear from Dr. Oleksandra Kovalchuk, acting director of the Odesa Fine Arts Museum in Ukraine, about the global effort she’s part of to preserve her country’s cultural heritage. Kovalchuk highlights five Ukrainian museums, discussing how they functioned in the Russian Empire, under the Soviet Union, and during the 31 years of Ukrainian independence. Then she describes the shift in missions and optics these institutions have faced in light of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The exhibition “Who Holds Up the Sky?” is still open until May 29th during open hours.
The Free Lecture also gives you general ticket access to the Museum of Fine Arts Boston that day. Please RSVP for your tickets through the Link
