The Kobzar's Prayer for Ukraine by Jurij Fedynskyj
LOCATION: Trinity Church, 206 Clarendon St, Boston, MA 02116
Dear Ukrainians, and friends of Ukraine,
We invite you all to join us for The Kobzar’s Prayer for Ukraine by Jurij Fedynskyj.
Jurij Fedynskyj will present: unique national instruments of Ukraine: the traditional
torban, bandura, and kobza, a prayer service of traditional Ukrainian sacred songs, epic psalms, historic songs, folklore, as well as related genres,
a lecture about the heart and history of Ukraine, through her greatest poets, statesmen, and blind singers,
a demonstration of what a traditional kobzar might be today!
Jurij Fedynskiy is a Ukrainian-American composer, torbanist, bandurist and singer-songwriter, producer, bandleader, luthier, cultural activist, and pedagogue. Jurij is a kobzar folk singer, a keeper, and a cherisher of a once lost Ukrainian tradition and folklore. This kobzar tradition was completely destroyed by 1933, through mass executions and starvation of all kobzars by Russia. Today, for Jurij it is important to save what’s left before it disappears forever.
For the first time in 100 years, the traditional torban, kobza, and bandura will be heard worldwide, as part of Jurij’s worldwide tour – Kobzaring the World!
Admission is FREE, any donations made during the concert will go to supporting the Poltava Kobzar Guild in Ukraine, and their efforts to revive the kobzar tradition in Ukraine and abroad, and defend Ukraine thereof.

Ukrainian Women's SILENT ACTION in Boston
LOCATION: Copley Square, Boston, MA 02116
When silence is louder than sirens
We live in a world where the truth about Ukraine becomes unacceptable content on social networks. The truth and our reality is blocked or hidden.
All this makes us want to scream. But what to do when your cry is blacked out and deleted by the social network for h@te speech?
We will continue to scream, but this time without words and our silence will be louder than sirens, because it will be MANY. It will be a massive “SILENT ACTION”.
Sunday, August 21, at 3:00 p.m. on Copley Square – we invite you to join us in silence.
Our action plan is as follows:
•3:00-3:30 PM we will meet at Copley Square and form rows of 20 girls.
•3:30-4:00 PM we will stand in lines at Copley Square for 30 minutes.
•4:00-4:15 PM we will move towards Newbury Street and form a ONE living chain of women standing and holding hands.
•4:15-5:00 we will stand along Newbury Street with posters. We will stay on the sidewalk, so as not to obstruct the traffic on the road.
The attributes of our action will be: white dresses,
signs with inscriptions,
blue-yellow ribbons on the hands of Ukrainian women standing in an unbreakable chain.
Nothing extra. But ALL are the same.
We will stand on the square holding hands in a living human chain, showing our unity, strength, indomitability and firm intention to defend our freedom.
Prepare to cry, write about everything that hurts and breaks your heart. About everything that is blocked by Internet. We will stand in silence, with taped lips, but with loud messages on paper.
We invite all girls and women who live in Boston and neighboring New England states to join us and contribute to the victory of Ukraine. Because such a strong idea can be implemented only together! Only if EVERY one of you comes, then this, perhaps even historic action, can become a reality. The first such action took place in Chicago and gained considerable resonance. On August 21, similar actions will unite Ukrainian women from different states and countries to support the wave of unity and fight for the truth.
Glory to Ukraine!

UKRAINIAN EXHIBIT - “HOLODOMOR 1932-33 GENOCIDE”
LOCATION: Trinity Episcopal Church, 131 W. Emerson St. Melrose, MA 02176
This Sunday, December 11th, 2022, at 1:00 PM, we invite you to the opening ceremony of the exhibit “HOLODOMOR 1932-33 IS GENOCIDE”, where UCCN will be sharing the tragic history of the Artificial Famine – Holodomor that happened in Ukraine in 1932-1933.
For decades, the Soviet authorities denied Holodomor and replaced real facts with propaganda. However, the staggering scale of the human tragedy and shocking testimonies contributed to the revelation of the truth. In addition, Ukrainian communities abroad contributed significantly to the dissemination of accurate facts and the preservation of memory during the years of Soviet disinformation.
On March 29th, 2018, State Governor Charles Baker issued a proclamation by which the Massachusetts State recognized the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
The event will start at 1:00 PM. The opening ceremony will be led by Anton Khlebas.
We are honored to have Mr. Paul Brodeur – Mayor of Melrose, Philip Kukura, and Rev. David Prentice, Trinity Episcopal Church Melrose, join us.
The program will have speeches from Vsevolod Petriv, Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), and the Head of the Boston branch.
A special bandura performance by Olena Tsar, and Olha Abakumova, a Ukrainian opera singer.
Melrose Men’s Acapella Chorus – “Blue of a Kind” will Sing “A Prayer for Ukraine (Bozhe Velykyy).”
The exhibit is free and open to the public from December 11th to December 18th.

REUNION DAY OF UKRAINE in Boston
LOCATION: The Freedom Trail Boston, starting point at the Massachusetts State House
Dear Ukrainians and friends of Ukraine: Please join us to form a “live chain” of support for Ukraine.
Activists from all over the world under the leadership of the CAU and the US cities lead by KLYCH invite communities to rally in support of Ukraine on the Day of the Unity of Ukraine
We invite you to come with posters that show the place of your birth – city, town, or village in Ukraine or in other countries of the world. Write a name and add some information about what the place is known for.
We will form a “Chain of Unity with the world – a Chain of Freedom” on the Freedom Trail in Boston.
Everyone will hold a poster of their city, thus showing that we are all united for the principles of freedom in the world and for Ukraine, regardless of our birthplaces.
33 years ago, “Live Chain” became one of the important steps towards the restoration of the Ukrainian Sovereignty. People joined hands to demonstrate the Unity of Ukraine on the way to independence. “Live Chain” must now show that Ukraine is united with the whole world.
Today, the entire civilized world is united around Ukraine. Ukraine is thankful to the World for its support and for the ability to continue the fight for freedom and independence.
We are looking for volunteers: coordinators during the formation of the live chain, videographers, photographers. If you want to join the team of volunteers for this event, please contact us.

Щедрик - Carol of the Bells
LOCATION: West Newton Movie Theater, 1296 Washington St, West Newton, MA 02465
Original languages with subtitles/closed captions in English
The name of the movie is adapted from a popular and loved Ukrainian folk melody. The peaceful and neighborly existence of three families, Polish, Ukrainian, and Jewish, sharing a large house, musical evenings, and merriment in the city of Stanislaviv in the years preceding and post-war, is shattered. First in the Soviet occupation and the persecution of the Polish family, then, by the Nazi occupation of Ukraine, and the decimation of the Jewish family. Sacrificing their lives the Ukrainian family manages to save their neighbors’ children and their own daughter.
Proceeds from the screening will benefit the Support Defenders of Ukraine program at Center Makor and the Association of TV and Film Industry Entrepreneurs.

For too long, Ukraine’s history has been altered and misrepresented by the Russian propaganda machine. In truth, for nearly a millennium, Ukraine has played a pivotal role in the geopolitics of Eastern Europe and beyond. It is the cradle of Eastern European civilization, a direct descendant of Kyivan Rus, and historically, the ongoing object of expansive policies by neighboring countries.
On June 28, Ukraine’s Constitution Day, join us for a conversation about Ukrainian history and Ukraine’s place on the contemporary world stage. The esteemed panelists will discuss a century of Russian aggression towards both Ukraine and its people, as well as explore the global implications of the current war.
The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A as well as networking opportunities.
Moderator:
– Rachelle G, Cohen, Assistant Editorial Page Editor, Boston Globe
Panelists:
– Emily Channell-Justice, Director, Temerty Contemporary Ukraine Program, Harvard University

About the film
The Long Breakup is a feature length documentary about Ukraine’s struggle to escape Russia’s embrace, leave its Soviet past behind and become a truly independent nation. Ukrainian-American journalist Katya Soldak, of Forbes Magazine, now living in New York City, tells the story of her home country as it exits the USSR, works through two revolutions, and endures a war with Russia—all through the eyes of her family and friends in Kharkiv, a large Ukrainian city just 18 miles from the Russian border.
The Long Breakup takes viewers on an intimate journey that illustrates how big geopolitical changes affect people on a personal level, and explores what happens when democracy slips away and a nation must fight for the right to choose its future. The film offers insight into what it’s like for an immigrant to watch her country go through crises from afar; but, most importantly, it’s a personal tale about life in the young, former Soviet country, whose struggle forms the backdrop of so many lives

COLORS OF PEACE - An Art Exhibit In Support Of Children With Autism In Ukraine
LOCATION: Wedeman Gallery, 47 Myrtle Ave, Auburndale, MA 02466
Art is a universal language and a great means for understanding the perspectives of others, particularly their perspective of Peace.
Join us at the Wedeman Gallery of Lasell University on Saturday, December 17th and Sunday, December 18th for a charitable art showcase and sale in support of Ukrainian children with autism.
Due to the war many of Ukrainian children were forced to leave everything behind: their homes, their schools, and often, their family members. Among them, are the most vulnerable children – those with special needs and developmental disabilities. The loss of educational and therapeutic support combined with war stressors are catastrophic to the people with autism, resulting in a mental health crisis for the entire family.
In collaboration with Heal Ukraine Group, Autism Unity, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is raising funds to provide medically necessary, trauma-informed services to children with autism and their parents.
Enjoy the art by local and Ukrainian artists, as well as newly emerging autistic talents! Refreshments and drinks will be provided.
Holidays season is upon us! Let’s bring more smiles to our precious kids, who are suffering the most in these tragic times!

Music to Heal Little Hearts
Location: Harvard-Epworth United Methodist Church, 1555 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02138
When missiles strike electric power lines and streets plunge into darkness, the one force that truly penetrates the dark is hope. In the blackest times, the children of Ukraine need our help.
In the northern city of Chernihiv, just 55 miles from the Russian border stands the region’s ONLY children’s hospital. It is here that children who have lost limbs are saved. They are learning how to sit, walk, and move their prosthetic arms and legs. They desperately need rehabilitation equipment, beds, and medication to return to active lives.
Ukraine Forward has made it our mission to bring these vital resources to the children in Chernihiv Regional Children’s Hospital.
On December 17, we invite you to become a part of our mission. Join us for a holiday musical benefit – a celebration of light, hope and life. Ukraine Forward is teaming up with some of Boston’s top musical maestros to host an evening of classical and holiday music. Sing along to holiday favorites from all over the world and enjoy bites of winter’s tasty treats. And while you’re there, visit our indoor holiday market, our silent auction, and win raffle prizes!
All proceeds will support Chernihiv Regional Children’s Hospital.

6:30-7:30pm – Refreshments & hors d’oeuvres
7:30-8:30pm – Concert & sing along

Center Makor stands strongly with the people of Ukraine and has shown incredible support to Ukrainians.
“This is an independence war for the people of Ukraine and we Jews very much understand and support your fight to be an independent nation. Hanukkah is the holiday of lights and charity. "Місто" - урбаністичний роман Валер'яна Підмогильного
LOCATION: Zoom
